Cookies and tracking

This site is made of static pages. It sets no tracking cookies, uses no advertising pixels and loads no third-party resources when it opens: typefaces are hosted on the site itself, and YouTube videos load only if you choose to press play. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.

If you press play on an embedded video, from that moment YouTube may set its own technical and statistical cookies, under its own policy.

Contact form

When you submit the form, the site collects your name, email address, subject and message, and delivers them to me by email. This data is used only to reply to you and to handle any resulting collaboration. The legal basis is your consent and the performance of pre-contractual measures.

Messages stay in my mailbox for as long as needed to handle the request and its consequences, and in any case no longer than two years from the last contact. They are never passed to third parties or used for marketing.

Spam filtering

To keep automated messages out, the form checks a few technical properties of the request before accepting it. When a request is rejected, the server notes the date, IP address and reason in a file that is not reachable from the web and that clears itself once it grows too large. It exists so I can check the filter is not turning away real people, and is used for nothing else.

For the same reason the server keeps a count of recent submissions per IP address, which is forgotten after 24 hours.

Server logs

The hosting provider (Aruba S.p.A.) records, as every web server does, page accesses with IP address, date, time and requested resource. This data is necessary for the operation and security of the service and is retained according to the provider's policies.

Your rights

You can ask at any time to access your data, correct it, delete it or restrict its processing, and you can object to the processing itself. Just write to info@umbertosorbo.it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority.
