Visionary machines, at the Latina Conservatory

As part of the international contemporary music festival “Le forme del suono 2022”, on 8 October 2022 the “Ottorino Respighi” Conservatory of Music in Latina hosted “Macchine visionarie”, Alberto Giordano’s seminar on the history of the first digital systems for music, invented by Professor Giuseppe Di Giugno — who attended the seminar himself.

Di Giugno’s machines, developed from the 1970s onwards and later adopted at IRCAM in Paris, are the origin of much of what we now take for granted when working with sound in the digital domain.
